Dear Friends,
In the afternoon of November 28, the offices of the Red COMAL, were the subject of a violent raid by platoons of the national army and police members. According to the testimony of staff employed in COMAL, who was in the establishment at the time of the military assault, at 1:40 pm on Saturday, November 28th, presented to our office around 45 or 50 military elements and police, who in a threatening manner, pointing with military weapons, stormed the offices, intimidating staff and asking the question of "Where are the weapons?
The manager of the Red COMAL, who was at the scene asked the military please do not break the doors, because she had the keys and opened all offices. The military forced all employees who were at the time of the assault on leaving the premises. The place also does a typical restaurant of the organization and at least 10 customers at the scene witnessed the military deployment. The soldiers searched all the offices, took four laptops, cameras, records and any material they consider opposition to the coup in Honduras, including newspapers, magazines and posters.
Could not stop the destruction of doors in the School of Solidarity Economy, another building owned by COMAL, where he also carried daily accounting books, bank statements, administrative records of the sale of services, also took the money from the last sale was in the office of that building, the amount of this money is L. 4652.00 Here, the guard threatened and July enchacharon Loreto Cantarero, who terrorized his arrival tried to flee the scene. The search, registration and threats to personal ends at 4:30 pm. The operation was led by Commissioner Lazaro Fredy Lagos. The executor was tax attorney Elizabeth Orellana was presented at 3.30 pm at the main offices of Red COMAL, not the 1.40 when the raid began, as required by law.
It is important to remember that about a month ago, military authorities called on all municipal authorities submit the list of the leaders of the resistance against the coup in each municipality. 10 days ago, friends of Siguatepeque, circulated the story that the battalion commander Siguatepeque Engineers, has list of 13 leading Siguatepeque, including staff working in COMAL.
The Alternative Community Marketing Network, Red COMAL, a member of the Latin American Community Marketing Corporation, RELACC, wants to record its vocation and commitment to social and economic transformation of a nonviolent way. Our commitment is for traditionally marginalized communities. Since the emergence of COMAL have borne witness to our faith in practical and social change non-violently.
We are opposed, according to our principles, any use of violence in our actions, whether at family, community or state level. We are confident that the use of violent means will not lead to any person or institution to achieve comprehensive development goals of our people. These principles are shared from the emergence of the Latin American Network of Community Marketing, RELACC, of which we are members. In our organization we have prohibited the use of firearms for all employees. From this can attest, all the people and national and international institutions that know us.
It is totally absurd that the military and civilian authorities in Honduras are chasing our organization, accusing it of using weapons. From and to be accountable to civilian authorities and military of Honduras for the physical safety and mental health and morale of our employees and staff members and women members of our organization. We demand an immediate return all confiscated computer equipment, cameras, money and all documents taken from our offices. Also required are returned all goods and furniture in our buildings damaged by military action committed.
To all human rights organizations, we ask his good offices to raise the demand for justice in this case and continue the defense of institutional and individuals who work in this institution. To all our partners and members of Red COMAL and all fraternal organizations nationally and internationally we confirm our opposition to the exercise of power through force of arms and continue to fight to build genuine democratic and participatory processes. We thank all the national and international solidarity gestures that have already indicated and ask them to be attentive to the development of all these events that are taking place in Honduras.
