Human Rights Activist, 27-year old Walter Tróchez, murdered, who was previously abducted by police


MURDERED  HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST  INTegucigalpa, HONDURAS. 


The Center of Churches CLAI for Human Rights in Honduras at the national and international community denounce and report the following.

1.-That yesterday Sunday 13 December 2009, at about 11:10 pm  the  27-year-old human rights activist WALTER ORLANDO  TROCHES,  was murdered ,accountant and CPA, in the heart of Tegucigalpa, opposite the grocery store Larach  and CIA, through the point of taxis Torocagua colony, about 25 meters from the Parque Central "Francisco Morazán". 

2.-Walter Troches , was a prominent activist human rights defender of the Gay and  Lesbian Community - currently served as the Counsel for Human Rights Promotion and Research Center of Human Rights CIPRODEH, humanitarian institution founded in history recognized 1989 Former National Commissioner for Human Rights Dr. Leo Rodrigo Valladares Lanza, whose Executive Director is the Attorney REINA RIVERA.

3 .- According to eyewitnesses, he was allegedly killed by a police officer, shot in the chest, where he was recognized by two friends and taken by a fire department ambulance to the hospital still alive , where he died minutes later a result of bleeding.

4.-The Center for Human Rights Latin American Council of Churches CLAI,received the complaint at about 12:30 pm by the Coordinator of Lawyers Against the Coup Against Nectali Rodezno attorney, who requested support to verify the facts and then contacted the attorney CIPRODEH Reina Rivera Director, confirmed the version of the event, expressing his concern over this death and the limitations that were mobilized at that hour of the night for safety reasons, also expressed by other activists who fear for their life, because we had two witnesses,  friends of the deceased at the hospital who feared being arrested and tortured in police interrogation and was necessary to get them out of the place and had to mobilize to prevent violation of their rights.

5 .- At the hospital  the witnesses whose names were not reported by security, saying one of them residing in the same neighborhood with the deceased (Walter) said:  I called him to  his cell at eleven p.m. with thirteen minutes, expressing "Gerardo they just killed me, come here they just killed me, come in to  Larache." Arriving at the scene were about six police officers in crime scene and a witness who can report that police had killed him. It is assumed that the witness was arrested by the investigators to take his testimony. In the he crime scene  research officer FATIMA ULLOA was present, who serves as Chief of the Special Crimes DNIC.

6.-As we reported to the Center of Human Rights Batista, the Counsel for Human Rights of CIPRODEH, Walter Orlando Troches, hours before had been seen in the supermarket La Colonia at the  city center, accompanied by a police officer and Preventive Police,  four days ago he had made a complaint issued by national and international media and with the COFADEH, which at night in the Obelisk of Comayaguela Park, had been kidnapped in an unmarked patrol agents of the National Research Criminal hooded, who took him to an unknown destination and tortured him, recognizing him as a defender of Human Rights, as they scuffle and shot the vehicle for fear of being executed as has happened with other activists of the National Front of Resistance Against Military coup to date. 

7 .- The Human Rights Activist of CIPRODEH was noted for his work to free detainees in police posts during the crackdown againstpeaceful demonstrations of resistance and his participation in the media denouncing the military and police repressive.

8.-The  observatory guards  at Hospital Escuela and family members present that night, reported  that  about eight people including an agent of the DNIC have died violently, demonstrating the high level of insecurity for the population and especially for human rights defenders and social leaders recognized in their struggle for the restoration of democratic government after the military coup on 28 June perpetrated by the armed forces with support of political leaders, business and church in the country, such reported by  president of CODEH  Andrés Pavón Murillo on Saturday December 12 at noon over Radio Globo, on a plan within 45 days after the election to remove leaders by hiring hit men in the department of Olancho and the north. 

9.-The Ecumenical Center for Human Rights Batista, condemns  this crime and asks the competent authorities and the Public Ministry and the DNIC, to make an immediate, thorough and objective action to prevent this crime go unpunished as the 16 cases of murders against members of the Gay Lesbian Transgender community in the past two years and the other murders (33) against members of the National Resistance in the last five months, without so far any request has been submitted by part of the Office of the Republic before the competent courts.
