The military bullets still keep her in the Hospital

Maria Hernandez lingers at the Hospital Escuela.She suffered the consequences of the bullets that the military of staff, fired indiscriminately on Friday night.


At about 12 midnight on Friday 27 November, Angel Salgado, accidentally went through  a fence that the military had placed at  Barrio El Obelisco of Comayaguela. That mistake cost him his life, a lucky shot in his head, ended its existence, at age 32 , no one responsible is behind bars,  his body was buried in El Naranjal, Cantarranas, in Francisco Morazán, on Thursday afternoon while his family cries out for justice. See story.

The shots were aimed  not only at Salgado who was in his car but also at three others who were with him inside. The soldiers taking advantage of  the impunity given to them by the military dictatorship, fired indiscriminately, one of the bullets hit Maria's ear, who tried to protect herself behind a car,  but then it  struck  Angel's, it passed over her body, reaching the hospital in critical condition, where she remains from that day onwards.


Her family tells Defensoresenlinea.com   that they have spent hours of anguish, "We thought she would die  as did the boy who could not stand the shot, but thankfully she is recovering, although she has many problems in her mind," said one of his sons.

María underwent an operation, then came in to the hospital unconscious, her body trembling, the blood running through her head and legs at a time when she was seen by a delegation from the Committee of Relatives of Detained and Disappeared in Honduras, COFADEH , who learned of the complaint made by the affected family members who called a few hours after the militay regrettable  event occurred r. doctors rebuilt her left ear.


On Friday, two representatives of the international organization Human Rights in Action came to her sickbed to determine her condition and to document her case, which is told to the world.

Mary is 51 and is the source of livelihood for her family of two children, but today, can not work in food sales, as she  had been doing for some time, her stay in the neurosurgery bedroom  keeps her disabled.

"The owner of the room is giving time to pay, but he has said that if we don't pay we have to leave," said the younger daughter María, who stays with her aunt and brother, who care for her mother.

World food supplies in the room, some medicines and diapers, but the best thing is that we are alive, do not know how we move forward, my mom is the one who provides everything for a single mother, said her son is concerned.
