Honduras: Alert about the situation of Farmers in Zone

CIPRODEH

Since last December 9, members of the Unified Movement of Peasants Aguán (MUCA) decided to reclaim land that are located in the community of trust, in the municipality of Tocoa and on the left bank of the municipality of Trujillo to the height of the Senior Ocotes community, considering that the relevance of the property was subject to recovery by the Agrarian Reform, and the partners have over 7 years of being in a legal process to recover.

Today in the afternoon, the COPA Coordinator (Coordinadora de Organizaciones Populares Aguán), reported that they had been arrested without a warrant, Mr Osman Ayala Mario Ulloa and Sinaloa near Columbus, by hooded men who drove in a car without license plates, and reported that tomorrow will be placed in the custody of the Courts of Letters of the Judicial Section Tocoa. In addition it was reported that prosecutor has filed formal notice, by assuming responsibility for the crime of usurpation in Atlantic prejudice Export SA de CV to other 5 people: Dagoberto Torres, Alfonso Hernandez, Evaristo Avila, Raul Mejia Maribel Mejia.

Since yesterday we were informed that 11 others had arrest warrants issued by the court of first instance of the Judicial Section of Trujillo on charges of counterfeiting crime in Central Oleopalmas prejudice Inc.: Miguel Angel Fúnez, Jorge Antonio Rivas, Pedro Marcial Zambrano, Luciano Erazo, Angel Maria Ramirez, Magdiel Lopez, Jose Castillo, Pedro Castillo, Santos Moreno Menjivar and Perfect Sunday.

Particular concern is the eviction of the property, issued by the Judge of Letters, for which Judge appointed Executor to Mr. Roy Umana Gevanny Crespo and sent to the National Police, National Criminal Investigation and the Fifteenth Battalion Infantry (who have been besieged, threatened and persecuted the people of the area since 28 June, when the coup) accompany and provide the necessary assistance to the Judge Executor.

We have also received complaints by fellow Unified Peasant Movement Aguan (MUCA) in the municipality of Tocoa is a large contingent deployed military and police, fearing that in imitation of the provisions of Judge Trujillo ordered a violent eviction in the next few hours, because according to comments attributed to the fiscal Kenya Vanessa Garcia Lara Trujillo municipality will leave to those farmers with the support of the military. This fear is heightened when one of the lawyers who are supporting the legal action has been pursued today by individuals transported in a Nissan vehicle with tinted windows, gray, and whose plates have not been identified.

The guys are afraid that evictions do occur more violent than usual, considering that these colleagues, about 1,000 families have been in the Resistance Front in the department of Colon and were victims of threats, persecution, arrests and other human rights violations.

We remind prosecutors that evictions in cases of land reclamation have been declared inadmissible by deemed to violate the right to life, right to food and the right to personal economic performance, as recognized by the Inter-American Court Human Rights, the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and through an order of the Attorney General signed by then-Attorney General Leonidas Rosa Bautista Advocate.
