Unlawful detention of Julio Correa and other colleagues in San Pedro Sula




The Popular MOVEMENT FOR THE DIGNITY AND JUSTICE, after 20 days of October of 2009, issued the following communique:

FIRST: The Movement for Dignity and Justice, following the events of 28 June 2009, has maintained a position that condemns the execution of the coup and call for the restoration of constitutional order and supports moral and severally to all those who have suffered the brunt of this dictatorship.

SECOND: Democracy and the rule of law, are not developed as it has this law violator of Human Rights, with the use of arms, disproportionate force, extreme violence and disrespect for the laws of our country and international treaties.

THIRD: We support the peaceful demonstrations, eloquent and patriotic place every time the National Resistance Front in every sector of our country, thus showing that democracy is built this way and not with the abuse of power or weapons .

FOURTH: On October 19, 2009, about six in the afternoon, Mr. JULIO COREA, together with other people that have struggled permanently for the benefit of Human Rights for the restoration of constitutional order and against the coup were arrested in the central park of San Pedro Sula, now called "Liberty Square". 

FIFTH: We denounce and condemn publicly  to the United Nations Organization illegal detention that the National Preventive Police towards Mr. Julio COREA and his companions. Without any justifiable grounds existing for such detention to be executed.

SIXTH: Mr. JULIO COREA has been a tireless campaigner who has ensured the fulfillment of human rights in our country and what it intends to stop this dictatorial regime to intimidate all those engaged in this laudable work, regardless of the repeal of the decree which restricted many individual rights .
