UN Mission investigates the situation of Human Rights in Honduras


UN mission investigates the situation of Human Rights Court
The mission of the United Nations Organization (UNO) which monitors the country's violation of human rights, met yesterday with the full Supreme Court to check the progress of appeals against curfews, illegal detention, violation of constitutional guarantees. 

The UN delegation is composed by Valiña Liliana Roberto Dessogus, Valdez and Ronald Lucas Dantas. 

The officials met for several minutes with the judges and then left to continue talks with other institutions related to human rights advocacy. 

This delegation will remain in the country until Nov. 7 to be seen talking to prosecutors, employers, representative of civil society and humanitarian organizations. 

It was reported that the visit to the full Supreme Court aimed to know the progress on the writs of habeas corpus for unlawful detention, as well as under the implementation of curfews and violation of constitutional guarantees. 

COFADEH RECORDS 
Over the past 117 days this year have registered more than 4, 000 human rights violations in the deaths of 21 protesters, 108 death threats and 133 cases of cruel, degrading and inhuman treatment. 

This is provided the second report titled "Faces and Figures of Repression" prepared by the Committee of Relatives of Detained and Disappeared in Honduras (Cofadeh). 
The launch events were chaired by the coordinator of Cofadeh, Bertha Oliva, and attended by former human rights commissioner, Leo Valladares Lanza, and other human rights defenders. 

The report states that since June 28 was toppled President Manuel Zelaya Rosales has been 4, 234 human rights violations by state security agencies. 

Notes that in the past 117 days there have been 21 violent deaths of protesters at the expense of resistance, three attacks, about 108 death threats and 133 cases of cruel, degrading and inhuman treatment. 

Also been reported 21 people with serious injuries and 453 with severe injuries and bruises, and 211 people hit by rubber bullets. 

The power of Cofadeh data indicate that there have been 3, 033 illegal detentions, two attempted kidnappings, 114 political prisoners and 10 raids. 

Also report that they have had reports of persecution of 13 community leaders and human rights defenders. 

The report highlights the violations of freedom of expression in the case of 27 media and aggression against 26 journalists.
