TEGUCIGALPA, October 19 .- Another anti-coup resistance leader of Honduras was shot and killed today in the western department of Santa Barbara, witnesses reported to Radio Globo, which already joined the 22 fatalities reported since 28 June, following the coup in that Central American nation.
The crime occurred at midmorning and early reports identified the victim as Professor Eliseo Hernandez.
Text messages sent through cellular Radio Globo report that Hernandez had an active participation in a peaceful struggle to regain and restore constitutional order President Manuel Zelaya.
On Monday the funeral took place of union leader Jairo Sanchez, who died of gunshot wounds suffered on 23 September during a protest police repression popular.
Radio Globo was closed by the coup government on 28 September, two days after the entry into force under siege, but since then maintains Internet broadcasts. On Monday the station returned to the air. (PL)
