 We are pleased that you are taking a leave of absence.  This will give breathing space to move the process forward.
 Robert Wood, State Department spokesman
It is part of a strategy to confuse the people and the international community.
Patricia Rodas,  deposed foreign minister
 The United States welcomed the decision of the de facto president, Roberto Micheletti,  to withdraw temporarily from 25 November to 2 December.
“Celebramos que él vaya a tomar un permiso de ausencia y esperamos su pronta implementación. "We celebrate that he's going to take a leave of absence and hope their prompt implementation.  This will give some breathing room to advance the process in Honduras, "said the State Department spokesman Robert Wood.

 But Washington is working not only to convince Manuel Zelaya of returning to the Agreement of Tegucigalpa, but that the international community, especially the Western Hemisphere, to recognize the elections.

 The Organization of American States (OAS) issued a resolution stating that the elections will not recognize until they revert to Zelaya. Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia and Paraguay have supported this position.

 However, a senior State Department official said: "I do not want to overtake a count of how many, but I can say that many countries in the hemisphere will realize that elections are an essential part in the effort to overcome this crisis .

 The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added: "We are in constant contact, not only in the OAS, but in many countries of the hemisphere, I do not want to prejudge what will their your position, but certainly we are talking of a very collaboratively talk with our neighbors on the situation in Honduras and how to overcome it. "

. He didn't reveal with which nations they  have been having talks, but noted that these conversations include Venezuela.

 U.S. refuses to take the deal  as failed, even after Zelaya's decision to abandon it after the delay in congressional action, which must still decide on his  return.

. The official said that during the recent visit of Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Craig Kelly,he  tried to persuade Zelaya to take up the agreement .

 "It takes two to tango, yes, but both sides have left the agreement and have taken up earlier," said the diplomat.
 "It's no use to take for dead the agreement when Congress has already agreed to discuss the return of President Zelaya ... That will be discussed in a public vote which will, we understand,be televised. There will be no secret ballot, "added the diplomat.

 He added: "Hondurans see it as a positive sign that the outside world is interested in helping them overcome the crisis.

 He noted that the dynamics of the situation has changed so quickly to condemn an agreement that has yet to meet points "not worth it."  "It is a matter in which we invested, we have rolled up their sleeves and worked directly to help a neighbor to overcome this situation," said Kelly.

(lol, we should take that agreement as important because "the Congress will decide whether they  vote for Zelaya's return", but Mr. Kelly, let me remind you that this does not guarantee Zelaya's return. That crumb of "collaboration" of the de facto regime is not really collaboration, because they do not guarantee a positive vote for Zelaya's return. Can a sane person understand this? These elections will be held under human rights violations, an illegal regime, remember you said it was illegal? and without the constitutional President's presence in power. So how are these elections supposed to be free and transparent, worse-- legal?

ACCORDING TO HONDURAN ELECTORAL LAW:

 ARTÍCULO 202.- CAUSAS DE NULIDAD DE LAS ELECCIONES.
Son causas de nulidad de las elecciones y de su declaratoria, las siguientes:

1) Si se llevaron a cabo sin convocatoria legal;
2) Si la convocatoria se hizo fuera de los términos legales;

ARTICLE 202.- CAUSES OF NULITY OF ELECTIONS:

1) IF THEY WERE CARRIED OUT WITHOUT A LEGAL NOTICE
2) IF THE NOTICE WAS MADE OUT OF LEGAL TERMS (the President's absence makes it illegal, kinda...)
