Cristina Kirchner and Lula will not recognize the presidential election in Honduras



President Cristina Kirchner and his counterpart from Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva reiterated his "concern" about the political situation in Honduras and said that they "will not recognize an election process in that country arising from a de facto government." 

Cristina and Lula, who will start today a new meeting of the Coordination Mechanism and bilateral integration, which meets biannually, will issue a political declaration also called up to Honduras the "cessation of hostilities" against the embassy of Brazil in this country where it is hosted ousted the constitutionally elected president, Manuel Zelaya. 

In the joint statement, according to diplomatic sources revealed, "they  also highlighted the" concern "about the possible installation of military bases of foreign powers in the region because" it would be incompatible with the principles of respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of states region ". 

In an endorsement to the provisions of the last summit of UNASUR in Bariloche in relation to the possibility of Colombia to allow the installation of U.S. military bases in the region, Argentina and Brazil will assume the need for "a written commitment from Colombia for the non-interference by foreign powers outside Colombia. 

The policy statement today that Cristina and Lula will form part of a series of understandings that will be fixed in the new meeting of two presidents and which falls within the so-called Coordination and Integration Mechanism Bilateral agreement between the two countries.
