The elections in Honduras on Sunday in legitimizing the coup and validating human rights violations under the de facto regime, denounced on Tuesday the NGO Center for Justice and International Law (CEJIL).
"On November 29 will not strengthen democracy in Honduras, on the contrary, be weakened, because strengthen a new version of coups," said executive director CEJIL, Viviana Krsticevic, in a statement.
"It is the beginning of a process to return to democracy, like Argentina in 1983 and Chile in 1989, among others, but one victory to bolster a coup," said Krsticevic.
The international NGO advocacy of human rights denounced the existing climate of intimidation during the election campaign on Sunday.
CEJIL noted that demonstrations by opponents of the coup are harshly repressed people are detained illegally and the media critics are closed.
Whereas, the Supreme Court and Attorney behave in a "negligent" to these abuses, said CEJIL, which has consultative status with the UN and the OAS.
The elections were held this Sunday amid uncertainty about international boycott the elections after the coup on June 28 that ousted from power and exiled President Manuel Zelaya
