Given the illegitimacy of the elections scheduled for Sunday November 29 in Honduras, which are also rejected by the international community, over one hundred candidates for various public offices have resigned in recent days in this Central American country.

The list includes candidates for the presidency and vice presidency of the country and other charges as deputies, mayors and aldermen, who doubt the legality of an election process called from a military coup.

Only on Tuesday came the resignation of some 60 candidates for various elected offices, while, near the headquarters of the Tribuanl Supremo Electoral (TSE) in Tegucigalpa, members of the National Front against the coup staged a new demonstration against elections a farce considering the de facto regime.

The de facto government of Honduras, headed by businessman Roberto Micheletti, which has usurped power from the coup against the constitutional president, Manuel Zelaya has called an election as a purported solution to the political crisis that developed in Honduras after the breakdown of democratic order.

The international community has questioned the legitimacy of these elections and that they were conducted without any reinstated Zelaya, separate from the presidency since 28 June, when the coup.

Among the cases of resignation are the latest running for mayor of San Pedro Sula by the Democratic Unification Party (UD), Samuel Madrid, and the would-be legislator for Social Innovation and Unity (PINU), Gustavo Matute.

"It is not prudent or ethical to participate in the process without having returned to President Manuel Zelaya," Madrid said, adding that it is now necessary to set aside personal interest and thinking in the nation.

Madrid expressed their solidarity with the people, especially those killed in this struggle against the coup and the return of institutionalism.

In addition, they gave up the contest independent candidate for president, Charles H. Reyes, and his running mate for the Liberal Party (PL), Margarita Elvir.

In the PL, which belong to both the legitimate president of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, as head of the de facto regime, Roberto Micheletti, have given up and 55 are nominated for various positions.

Before the Supreme Electoral Tribunal also resigned dozens of members of UD and 57 PINU, said the candidate for deputy in Cortes, Efrain Aguilar.

"The collective resignation means clear elements of a deep crisis and a rough choice, with little capacity to legitimize," said Venezuela's ambassador in Honduras, Germain Espinal.

Besides the president and vice president in the elections will elect 128 seats to Congress, 289 mayors and 20 lawmakers to the Central American Parliament.

The National Front against the coup, which brings together farmers, trade unionists, women, progressive politicians and representatives of other sectors, expressed appreciation to those who renounced the sham election on 29 November.

He reiterated the front that the only way back to the institutional order is through the return of Zelaya and the installation of a National Constituent Assembly.

Zelaya announced last Saturday he will contest the election, to denounce as illegal under the terms of a de facto regime.

The State raised the need to annul the elections and reschedule for when you can do with all the necessary conditions for the restoration of democracy in Honduras.
