Liberal Party politician, Roland Valenzuela, ex public official of the deposed government of Manuel Zelaya, was killed in the bar of a local hotel in San Pedro Sula amid a strong discussion with a businessman at dawn  on Wednesday , according to what the National Police reports.
Valenzuela, who was the manager of the National Program of Sustainable Development (Pronaders) and was also the Housing Minister, died after being shot in the head by a man identified by the Public Prosecutor as Carlos Yacamán, with whom he held a "heated" discussion in the bathroom. After the agression, the ex Minister was transferred to a hospital where he arrived already dead.
Public Prosecutor, Marco Cartagena, did not want to reveal more details to the press waiting to analyze the images of the security cameras of the bar. The forensic medicine report points that the bullet came inside the rear of the neck and came out through the nose, provoking an almost instant death to the former public official.
The police, as usual, has discarded in a communiqué that the crime is related to political affaires.
Valenzuela was considered a person who was very close to Zelaya , he was his follower and a friend since childhood.
After the coup d'état on June 28, 2009, he formed part of the National Front of Popular Resistance who demanded the return of the deposed President to the country and opposed the de facto government headed by Roberto Micheletti.
He ran as candidate for the parliament in the general elections in November for the Liberal Party.
