When strangers entered his home, they fired on vehicle belonging to Professor of Fine Ar

SUNDAY, 10 JANUARY 2010 19:19 DINA MEZThree armed men attacked the teacher Gilberto Vides, entering his house when he entered his vehicle against which was shot twice in the back glass at a time when returning from a National Front march Popular Resistance on Thursday 07 January at the Colonia  Sur de  Comayagüela Israel. The murderers did not achieve their goal.

Threats and now this attack indicate that there is a pattern of repression against teachers approached to  the National School of Fine Arts, where women work the concerned mentor, for 18 years.  Renan Fajardo was murdered on December, a former student of that institution and one teacher and another teacher to death threats in recent days.

There were three men of about 25 who wanted to run it. One of them entered the garage of his house and banged the glass with his gun near the wheel of the vehicle where he was ordering Vides open the window, but the cries of the affected and then his wife got nervous that she made the aggressor flee but before leaving he shot twice against the back of the car glass, bullets that could have murdered  the teacher but one of them deviated from its goal, handing the glass front of the car.

The greatly affected alarmed called the Committee of Relatives of the Disappeared in Honduras, COFADEH and claimed he feared for his life because his murderers can return to complete their mission. 

A team of COFADEH moved to the area to state the fact and had access to information revealing that there was a plan to end the life of Professor Vines.

"I put my car in my garage when suddenly  two men armed with revolver in hand  appear, one of them threatened me through the window of the vehicle and ordered to open the door but like the car shuts itself off I could not open, he threatens me I must get off the car, I look for the bars that I put at the helm and I guess he thought I was looking for a weapon, so he became more nervous and runs away but doing so he shopts at close range against the car that crossed the front and rear glass "he narrated  still not out of fright.

I screamed "God, God," then when I screamed, he made the shots, and did not shoot where I was sitting so he couldn't kill me, my wife Maria Antonia Oliva Bertrand came out and yelled and he ran away, she said she could  not explain how she is still alive. At the the scene they found two shell casings 9 millimeters.

He denounced  that before the death of Renan Fajardo there were versions circulating out there on 31 December last year they were going to kill some teachers of Fine Arts.

Renan Fajardo, a former student of that institution, was killed last Dec. 22. He had  been hung around his neck and was found  at the back of his head a broom handle with which they had done as a tourniquet to choke. See details.

Rafael Caceres, deputy director of the school reported in December against the COFADEH was receiving repeated threats by strangers who told him messages through his cell phone, that he  would be killed. Find out here on the case.

In the last hours the COFADEH received another complaint from a teacher of the same unit, who related that he  is being persecuted by  unmarked vehicles. In the next editions will be more details on this case.

With regard to Professor Vides, COFADEH is making the necessary actions to protect life. It is also asking for interim measures before the Interamerican Commission of Human Rights, IACHR.
