International Criminal Court will proceed against Honduran coup Leaders

Roberto Micheletti will have to pay not only the crimes he has committed against the people, his aides are also targeted by the International Criminal Court, which now are considered "war criminals" for crimes against humanity.

Offenses that  "defenders" of democracy would be facing are: crimes against humanity, political persecution, targeting civilians and threats against members of the Resistance Front, because the country has fallen into a state of helplessness.

How the rule of law had collapsed with the coup, and have committed several crimes, whether by act or omission of the dictatorship. The judiciary has its share of responsibility for the coup, therefore they have lost their credibility, relevance and people do not believe in them.

In addition, traditional means of communication related to the coup, must be judged of  media terrorism have been committed since the military coup, trying to minimize and expose to danger the leaders of popular resistance.

Drafting / THE LIBERATOR

Tegucigalpa. The promoters and executors of the coup in Honduras have their hours counted. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has received the complaint of Mr. Manuel Ollé Sese, president of the Human Rights Association of Spain and Luis Guillermo Pérez Casas, secretary general of the International Human Rights Federation (FIDH), in the crime of political persecution against the people of Honduras by Roberto Micheletti Bain and Romeo Vasquez Velasquez. General Prosecutor of the ICC, Luis Moreno Ocampo, has received evidence, in which specified the crimes committed by the dictatorship.

Media repression

Since the coup occurred, "the report indicates, the media belonging to the businessmen who supported the coup unleashed a campaign of misinformation and hate against the popular leaders or against all those who have promoted the popular mobilization  demanding the return of President Zelaya. They have made  hate speech to identify those who demand profound changes as enemies of the country of "democracy" or communist or accomplices of international terrorism.

It has also violated the constitutional articles 72 and 74, the end point of the media, such as: Radio Globo (closed by executive agreement) and Channel 36 was shut down, as other media, which have constituted the "safety valves" for the people. Persecution as well as their managers and owners have suffered, this is the case of the director of this newspaper, Jhonny Lagos, who has received death threats by the repressive organs of the state.

Crimes go unpunished

In addition, documenting the death of Roger Vallejo, who was shot during the demonstrations that took place in Comayagüela July 30 and died on August 1. On Sunday, September 20,  Felix Murillo was found dead in Talanga, Francisco Morazán,  with signs of torture, and he was also one of the witnesses the murder of Vallejo. Obed Isis Murillo, 19, killed on 5 July, following a gunshot wound outside the airport Toncontín.

When President Zelaya wanted to enter the country through  Las Manos,  the death of Pedro Munoz, found July 25 near the border with Nicaragua, was reported and his body bore signs of torture that had been hidden under a clean shirt . The Commission received testimony from two people who witnessed his arrest by the army a few hours before his body appeared. Witnesses informed the Commission that day the victim had actively participated in the demonstrations against military checkpoints in the area.

Political persecution

Also, some judicial officers and deputies have suffered political persecution to be  intimidated by the highest authorities, and people who have been harassed are: Guillermo Lopez Lone, Tirza Flores Lanza, Luis Alonso Chévez, Elvia Varela Ondina Ricardo Pineda and Osman Antonio Fajardo, having ruled in favor of protesters from the resistance, had suffered sanctions by the Supreme Court, and forced relocation.

In the case of Guillermo Lopez, president of the Association of Judges for Democracy and the trial court judge in San Pedro Sula, with Tirza Flores Lanza, Judge of the Court of Appeals and the Public Defender Osman Fajardo, both from the same city, filed June 30 before the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court a writ of amparo in favor of Manuel Zelaya for violation of Article 102 of the Constitution which prohibits the deportation of Hondurans and have since been repressed, with audiences of discharge and rotations of charge.

Responsible for repression

Topping the list of those responsible for the coup, is the de facto ruler and his cabinet Roberto Michelleti usurper, General Romeo Vasquez Velasquez and his junta of commanders, the police chief Salomon Escoto Salinas and other commanders Police, Billy Joya Améndola security adviser, a former soldier accused of serious human rights violations in the 80's, Jorge Alberto Rivera Avilez, President of the Supreme Court.

And the list continues: Luis Alberto Rubi Avila, Attorney General and other judges or prosecutors who have tried to legitimize the coup with legal action or failing in their legal obligations are being equally responsible for the crime of political persecution. Jose Alfredo Paz Saavedra President of the National Congress and other Members who led the coup and have encouraged the political persecution of those who have opposed the coup.

Owners of media involved

Who has promoted, supported the coup and contributed to the campaign of political persecution against media who have opposed the coup: The former President of the Republic, Carlos Roberto Flores, owner of La Tribuna, Canahuati Jorge Larach owner of the newspapers El Heraldo and La Prensa, José Rafael Ferrari, owner of United Stations Televicentro and other owners of radio stations and / or television as religious leaders, who have done equally share responsibility for the crime of political persecution.

 also accused of collaborating with the regime are those who  supplied photographs of members of the Resistance Front and others involved in the marches demanding the return of constitutional order, which broke the previous June 28. Just as states are also undertaking smear campaigns against popular leaders, which argue that opponents of the coup are aligned with the deposed ruler.
