Marvin Ponce: Groups planning attacks: police are trying to scare the population



The National Police confirmed the possibility of attacks during and after the act of presidencial inaguration of Porfirio Lobo Sosa. 

The police officer, Danilo Orellana, told international agencies said that "we have information that terrorist attacks are planned in 10 days, when Lobo assumes the new government, created by groups interested in destabilizing the country." 

The military has not identified  potential victims or  groups that could implement criminal acts.

The Security Ministry spokesman, Deputy Commissioner Orlin Cerrato, speaking by telephone with TIEMPO Orellana  mentioned that "there is intelligence information when handling these extremes and threats." 

He added that the scenarios have been built based on "information and scenarios that were presented last year with several people interested in actions to destabilize the normal order. 
"

Because of this security during the presidential inauguration and before "such information we are strengthening," he said Cerrato. 

According to figures credited to Orellana at least 2,000 policemen will be present for the presidential handover. At other times, only 800 police elements have been designated to take cover presidential events. 

RESISTANCE 
Marvin Ponce, Democratic Unification deputy and member of the National Resistance, police considered the hypothesis as an intimidating version and as a justification to unleash reprisals ro those who demonstrate on Jan. 27. 

Popular organizations convoked a march in this city the same day Porfirio Lobo Sosa takes possession .

"These statements are meant to frighten people so they leave and are looking to justify a crackdown ," said Ponce. 

He established that no-one will stop the activity. "We will go to demonstrate peacefully because the litigation is who makes the police and military, because they have weapons," he said
